Setting Nutritional Targets

The food log in the client area is easy to use but based on feedback it was fairly clear that the page where a user sets their nutritional targets was unclear & somewhat hard to understand.

Also - for first time client users they would go to the nutritional tab and hit the food log but not necessarily know that they needed to go to the nutritional targets page and set up their targets for calories, carbs, protein and fat.

This process has been re-designed. The ‘Nutritional Targets’ menu tab has gone from the nutritional area and there is a direct link on the food log page. In addition - for first time users when they go to the food log then they are automatically directed to the nutritional targets section first.

The main changes though are in how the set nutritional targets step has been changed. Previously this was all on one page as a calculator type form. It was ok if you already understood what BMR, TDEE and so on was, but for most first time users it was just a big page of confusion.

There are now 4 pages in the set nutritional targets page that guides the user through setting the targets, hopefully explaining some key points in the process. The 4 pages are shown below

Setting Nutritional Targets

Step 1 is an introduction that explains some basic concepts.

Step 2 shows BMR and asks the user to select activity level to create a daily calorie need (TDEE). A manually entered BMR can also be entered.

Step 3 lets the user create a daily calorie target, which shows potential weekly lbs impact, and if a target weight has been entered - shows that in terms of number of weeks.

Step 4 lets the user define whatever % carbs, protein and fat settings they want - including using some ‘diet’ presets.

Any comments on this change are welcome - there may be some extra improvement that can be made, but it’s a lot better than what was there before, hopefully a lot more understandable.
