Nutrition Log Improvements
Some improvements to the nutrition tracking system have been added. We’ve updated the food database to the most recent USDA food database (release 19) and removed all babyfood from the database. Not too many babies are logging in & not too many adults are eating babyfood! - these items just added irrelevant food matches when searching for foods, made worse because B is the 2nd letter of the alphabet.
Several improvements to how the food log works have been added
- Ability to also enter & track Cholesterol, Sodium and Sugars
- Ability to tie food entries to an exact time of day & then chart at how calories are spread over the time of day for a past period
- Ability to tie food to mood. It’s interesting to see how calories match to moods, especially if you are trying to discover what your motivating factors are.
The interface for looking up and adding food has been improved to make it more easy to use. It’s now spit into 3 tabs - Search, Enter In and My Favs
Previously when you searched for foods you could only look up items that came from the USDA database, now a food search also shows food entries that came from other users. This should make the opportunity to find exactly the food you want to enter more successful, especially for local foods. Chances are somebody else has entered it already.

There are also corresponding changes to the nutrition reports and also some improvements to the activity tracking tools.
